I bought my first 35mm SLR upon graduating from Michigan State University in 1967, and set up a small darkroom. While in Philadelphia, then Chicago, in the late '60's I took photos of the people and places around me. Two photographs from my time as a VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) in 1968 Chicago were published in the book Human Rights - Issues for a New Millenium by Linda Jacobs Altman (Enslow Publishers 2002) and another in Knocking on Doors - VISTA Volunteers Remember 1965-1971, (Harvard Bookstore Press 2010).

After entering law school in 1970, I put the camera down. For the next 35 years, I spent every waking moment on the law, as a private attorney, Clinton County NY District Attorney, and Plattsburgh NY City Court Judge. Over the last several years, inspiring workshops with the late photographer Nancy Rotenberg greatly opened me up to the beauty of the world, and to my own creativity. I now see color, pattern and texture wherever I look, and completely enjoy immersing myself in the experience of photography.

Since retiring, I've been able to travel - always carrying my camera!   Most recently, I spent a month in Asia, particularly Vietnam, and completely enjoyed the people, the places and the food!   Last winter [2017] I became obsessed with wanting to see the Northern Lights, so my husband and I spent a week in Iceland.  We were confined by storms for half of the time, but had one beautiful, clear night with dancing Aurora!  Last year, we went to Morocco - a very stimulating and different experience in a wide range of locales, filled with color, pattern and texture from ocean to desert.

In January 2015, I spent a fascinating 10 days in Cuba with a small photography group, and have selected photographs that will give you a glimpse of the cities of Havana and Trinidad.  Besides roaming the streets, we were able to spend time in a boxing gym, ballet classes, with an Afro-Carribean dance troupe, a ballerina, and roam through three old mansions.  There are new galleries for each of these cities, and more Cuba photos in the two Eye-ing Color galleries, as well as in Patterns and Textures.

In 2014, we enjoyed a fantastic month in New Zealand, full of beautiful landscapes and wonderful people!  I've put some of the highlights in a special gallery.
